‘Maid’ Trailer: Margaret Qualley Struggles in Margot Robbie-Exec Produced Netflix Series

Take a look at the trailer that Netflix has released for upcoming series Maid.

Inspired by the memoir Maid: Hard Work, Low Pay, and a Mother’s Will to Survive by Stephanie Land, the series has Margaret Qualley (The Leftovers, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood) playing Alex, a single mother who turns to housecleaning to — barely — make ends meet as she escapes an abusive relationship and overcomes homelessness to create a better life for her daughter, Maddy.

Netflix describes the series as “a raw and inspiring exploration of a mother’s resilience”, as “seen through the emotional yet humorous lens of a desperate but determined woman.”

The series was created and is executive produced by Molly Smith Metzler, whose credits include Orange is the New Black and Shameless. Margot Robbie is among the executive producers – the star’s production banner, LuckyChap Entertainment, brought the series to life along with John Wells Productions and Warner Bros. Television Studios.

Maid, also starring Andie MacDowell (Qualley’s real-life mother), Nick Robinson, Anika Noni Rose, Tracy Vilar and Billy Burke, will be streaming on Netflix from October 1st.
