New ‘Malignant’ Trailer: James Wan Promises “Something New and Different” with Latest Horror Film

Warner Bros.

Take a look at the nail-biting new trailer that’s arrived for Malignant, the next slice of horror from Aussie filmmaker James Wan (Saw, The Conjuring, Insidious).

“I wanted to do something that was a bit different, but yet hark back to my roots,” says Wan in the trailer, which is actually a bit of a trailer/featurette hybrid as it has Wan himself hyping the pic. “You gotta take chances,” Wan says. “If you don’t, you end up making the same old thing again,  and again, and again.”

It’s great to see Wan back in the horror realm following big studio tentpole pictures such as Furious 7 and Aquaman. Going on just the marketing so far, it sure looks like we’re in for an unsettling, oh-so creepy horror film here.

Annabelle Wallis (Annabelle, The Mummy) stars as Madison, a woman who is paralysed by shocking visions of grisly murders. Her torment worsens when she discovers that these waking dreams are in fact terrifying realities.

In the US, Malignant will be hitting both cinemas and HBO Max on September 10th. The film opens in Australian cinemas on October 21st.
