Warner Bros. has unveiled a second trailer for Tammy, an upcoming comedy starring Melissa McCarthy and Susan Sarandon. McCarthy stars as the titular character, an out-of-luck woman who ends up on a road trip with her alcoholic grandmother (Sarandon). How funny you find these proceedings depends on how you feel about McCarthy. We’re not digging this one too much, but McCarthy has proven to be a box-office draw-card in the past. The film marks the directorial debut of Ben Falcone, who played McCarthy’s love interest in Bridesmaids and who happens to be her real-life husband.
Kathy Bates, Sarah Baker, Toni Collette, Allison Janney, Dan Aykroyd, Gary Cole, Nat Faxon, Sandra Oh, and Mark Duplass also star.
Official synopsis for Tammy:
Tammy (McCarthy) is having a bad day. She’s totaled her clunker car, gotten fired from her thankless job at a greasy burger joint, and instead of finding comfort at home, finds her husband getting comfortable with the neighbour in her own house.
It’s time to take her boom box and book it. The bad news is she’s broke and without wheels. The worse news is her grandma, Pearl (Sarandon), is her only option—with a car, cash, and an itch to see Niagara Falls. Not exactly the escape Tammy had in mind. But on the road, with grandma riding shot gun, it may be just what Tammy needs.
