‘Stranger Things’ Star Millie Bobby Brown Reveals She Auditioned for X-23 in ‘Logan’

Millie Bobby Brown, who’s attracted quite a fan base thanks to her role as Eleven in the popular Netflix series Stranger Things, competed for a key role in X-Men film Logan.

In a Variety “Actors on Actors” interview, the 13-year-old actress revealed to Westworld star Evan Rachel Wood that she auditioned for the role of Laura, aka X-23, with Hugh Jackman.

“I was like, ‘It’s going to be amazing, I’m going to really prepare,’ and I sat in my room reading the lines,” Brown said. “Honestly, for me, I felt so — I felt [like] an actor, in the audition room, hitting Hugh Jackman, and James Mangold sitting right in front of me.”

Brown said she considers her Logan trial to be her best audition thus far, and describes a Barbie audition as her worst.

“It was very awkward. It was hard,” she said. “I had to jump up and down. They gave me this, I don’t even know what it was, it was just this thing I had to hold and stand up and play pretend with this other girl.”

The part of X-23 eventually went to 11-year-old actress Dafne Keen, who Brown called “incredible” in the role.

Although no footage available of Brown’s audition opposite Jackman has been released, we do have video footage of the audition that earned Keen the part:

Brown is reprising her role as Eleven in season 2 of Stranger Things, which will be hitting Netflix on October 31, and has scored herself a role in the sequel Godzilla: King of Monsters, scheduled for US release on March 22, 2019.
