Take a look at the first trailer to arrive for Molly’s Game, the directorial debut of Oscar-winning screenwriter Aaron Sorkin (The West Wing, The Social Network, Moneyball).

Sorkin has also penned this adaptation of Molly Bloom’s memoir, which tells the true story of how she went from Olympic-class skier to the mastermind behind the world’s most exclusive high-stakes poker game. After running the game for around ten years and making millions in the process, with celebrities, business tycoons, and even the Russian mob found to be connected, it all came to a halt when FBI agents took her down.

While Sorkin is up there among the best when it comes to screenwriting, it remains to be seen if he can bring the goods as director as well. On paper at least, the right pieces are all here: A fascinating true story, a Sorkin script, Chastain, Idris Elba.

We’ll find out if it amounts to a winner when Molly’s Game, which also stars Kevin Costner, Michael Cera and Chris O’Dowd, opens in the U.S. on November 22.

Synopsis for Molly’s Game:

MOLLY’S GAME is based on the true story of Molly Bloom, an Olympic-class skier who ran the world’s most exclusive high-stakes poker game for a decade before being arrested in the middle of the night by 17 FBI agents wielding automatic weapons. Her players included Hollywood royalty, sports stars, business titans and finally, unbeknownst to her, the Russian mob. Her only ally was her criminal defense lawyer Charlie Jaffey, who learned that there was much more to Molly than the tabloids led us to believe.
