The official trailer has dropped for Monsters at Work, an upcoming Disney+ CG-animated series that serves us a sequel to Pixar’s 2001 hit Monsters, Inc. (how has it been two decades since that film?!).
We follow new monster Tylor Tuskman (voiced by Superstore‘s Ben Feldman), a new recruit to the Monsters, Inc. Facilities Team (aka “MIFT”). As you may remember from the original film’s finale, the role that monsters have in generating Monstropolis’ fuel from children’s scares has changed – much to Tylor’s shock. Having graduated at the top of his class at Monsters University and always envisioned becoming one of the best Scarers in the biz, he finds his path is to take quite a turn: from Scarer to Jokester, seeing as Mike and Sulley discovered that laughter generates ten times more energy than screams.
Billy Crystal and John Goodman return as the voices of Mike and Sulley, although the characters appear to be in more of a supporting capacity this time around. Other returning voices include Bonnie Hunt as Ms. Flint; John Ratzenberger as Yeti and Tylor’s dad, Bernard; Jennifer Tilly as Celia Mae; and Bob Peterson as Roze. New voice cast members include Mindy Kaling as enthusiastic MIFT member Val Little; Henry Winkler as scatterbrained boss Fritz; Aisha Tyler as Millie Tuskmon, Tylor’s mother; Lucas Neff as opportunistic plumber Duncan; and Alanna Ubach as officious rule follower Cutter.
The series was created by created and executive produced by longtime Disney staffer Roberts Gannaway, who has an array of directing/writing/producing credits on Disney projects such as Planes: Fire & Rescue, Stitch! The Movie and the Timon & Pumbaa series.
Monsters at Work will be streaming on Disney+ from July 7th.
