Take a look at the first trailer released for My Cousin Rachel, a dark-romance starring Rachel Weisz and Sam Claflin.

Based on a novel by renowned English author Daphne Du Maurier (Rebecca, The Birds, Don’t Look Now), My Cousin Rachel tell of a young Englishman (Claflin) who plans revenge against the cousin (Weisz) he believes killed his guardian. Things get complicated when he finds himself falling for her.

It’s clear straight away that this is one gorgeous-looking drama. Sumptuous design and cinematography from Mike Eley (Touching the Void, The Selfish Giant) provide some lovely visuals in the trailer below, and the plot itself is teased at nicely. There’s little else to go on here, but with Weisz as the mysterious beauty and director Roger Michell (Notting Hill, Changing Lanes, Venus, Le Week-End) at the helm (and script), we could have a winner.

My Cousin Rachel, also starring Holliday Grainger and Iain Glen, will open in the US on July 14.
