John Boyega plays a young lawyer about to go bad in the upcoming thriller Naked Singularity, also starring Olivia Cooke, Bill Skarsgård, Ed Skrein and Tim Blake Nelson.
The official trailer has been released for the film, which tells of Casi (Boyega), a promising young NYC public defender whose idealism is beginning to crack under the daily injustices of the very justice system he’s trying to make right. Doubting all he has worked for and seeing signs of the universe collapsing all around him, he is pulled into a dangerous high-stakes drug heist by an unpredictable former client (Cooke) in an effort to beat the broken system at its own game.
This marks the feature directorial debut for Chase Palmer, who was one of the three screenwriters of 2017’s It. Palmer also co-wrote Naked Singularity with David Matthews, who comes from the television realm with writing credits including Boardwalk Empire, Narcos and Your Honor.
Naked Singularity will be in limited US theaters on August 6th and is released On Demand on August 13th.
