Netflix‘s fantastic anime series Castlevania may have wrapped with season 4, but we are far from done with this world.
The streamer is going ahead with a new anime series that will introduce a new array of characters in this universe – with a chapter set many years after the events of the Castlevania series.
Specifically, the next series is to be set against the backdrop of the French Revolution (1789 – 1799) and will follow Richter Belmont, a direct descendent of Trevor Belmont and Sypha Belnades. Also announced, the character of Maria Renard, who, in the Castlevania video game series, is a young vampire huntress and a distant relative of the Belmont Clan. The games have depicted her as a vampire who was turned at twelve years of age.

Castlevania directors Sam and Adam Deats will be returning for the still-untitled new series, with Clive Bradley on board as showrunner and executive producer. Kevin Kolde is also attached as executive producer.
An adaptation of the Japanese video game series of the same name by Konami, Castlevania was Netflix’s first original anime series. The acclaimed series kicked off with a four-episode first season in July 2017 and concluded with a ten-episode fourth season that hit the service in May 2021.
