20th Century Fox has decided to release an official press release (containing the official synopsis) to mark the start of principal photography. Production began in Vancouver a while ago but it’s better late than never, right?
The film will star Andy Serkis (once again as Ceasar), Keri Russell, Gary Oldman, Toby Kebbell, Jason Clarke and Kodi Smit-McPhee. Matt Reeves, the director of Cloverfield and Let Me In, is at the helm.
Here’s the official synopsis:
“A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.”
The press release closes with the following paragraph:
“Twentieth Century Fox will release Dawn of the Planet of the Apes worldwide on Memorial Day weekend, May 23, 2014. Rise of the Planet of the Apes opened theatrically during the summer of 2011, grossed nearly half a billion dollars worldwide.”
If this is anywhere near as good as Rise then you can count us in.
What are your thoughts on the synopsis?
