Mark Wahlberg and director Peter Berg reunite for their third true-story together following Lone Survivor and Deepwater Horizon.

Patriots Day sees Wahlberg playing Tommy Saunders, a Police Sergeant who joins courageous survivors, first responders and investigators in the aftermath of the Boston Marathon bombing of 2013.

If Deepwater Horizon was any indication, the third Wahlberg-Berg team-up could offer up one hell of a hard-hitting account of what went down on that tragic day. The well-crafted teaser trailer below keeps the focus on emotion while holding narrative details and revealing film footage under wraps.

Patriots Day, also starring Kevin Bacon, John Goodman, J.K. Simmons, Michelle Monaghan, Alex Wolff, and Melissa Beniost, among many others, starts a limited U.S. theatrical release on December 21 before going wide on January 13. The film is released in Australia on January 26.

Synopsis for Patriots Day:

In the aftermath of an unspeakable act of terror, Police Sergeant Tommy Saunders (Mark Wahlberg) joins courageous survivors, first responders and investigators in a race against the clock to hunt down the bombers before they strike again. Weaving together the stories of Special Agent Richard Deslauriers (Kevin Bacon), Police Commissioner Ed Davis (John Goodman), Sergeant Jeffrey Pugliese (J.K. Simmons) and nurse Carol Saunders (Michelle Monaghan) this visceral and unflinching chronicle captures the suspense of the most sophisticated manhunt in law enforcement history and the strength of the people of Boston.
