Take a look at the trailer that’s arrived for Prisoners of the Ghostland, the next crazy-looking film starring Nicolas Cage.
According to the trailer’s quote from The Cage, the actor considers this to be the wildest movie he’s ever made. That’s quite a call, considering some of the films on his resume, but this sure looks like a nutty ride! The film has him playing a ruthless bank robber who is sprung from jail by a wealthy warlord, The Governor, and given a no-choice mission: find The Governor’s granddaughter in five days or the leather suit he’s been strapped into will self-destruct. So, he sets off on a journey to find the young woman — and potentially his own path to redemption as well.
Sofia Boutella, Bill Mosley, Nick Cassavetes, and Tak Sakaaguchi also star in Prisoners of the Ghostland, which comes from Japanese director Sion Sono (Why Don’t You Play in Hell?, Suicide Club, Cold Dish) and screenwriters Aaron Hendry and Reza Sixo Safai.
You never know with Cage movies these days. Hopefully Prisoners of the Ghostland is as fun and energetic as it could be. We’ll find out when the film is released in limited US cinemas, On Demand and Digital HD on September 17th. Umbrella Entertainment will be releasing the film in Australia, although no release date has yet been announced.
