Take a look at the official trailer that’s arrived for Reminiscence, an upcoming action-thriller starring Hugh Jackman, Rebecca Ferguson and Thandiwe Newton.
The film is set in a future where the water levels have risen to dangerous levels, putting Miami in a half-sunken state. Jackman plays Nick Bannister, a private investigator of the mind, helping people access lost memories. Everything changes when the woman he loves, Mae (Ferguson, reuniting with her Greatest Showman co-star), disappears, putting him on a journey that uncovers a violent conspiracy.
There’s a lot going on here, with a mystery, a potential femme fatale, a troubled protagonist, memory-accessing tech, and, you know, that whole apocalyptic setting. Fingers crossed the various elements are juggled well.
This marks the first feature film as both writer and director for Lisa Joy, co-creator and co-showrunner of HBO’s Westworld series. Her Westworld collaborator Jonathan Nolan is among the producing team here.
Also starring Cliff Curtis, Marina de Tavira, Daniel Wu, and Natalie Martinez, among others, Reminiscence will be arriving in Australian cinemas on August 19th. In the US, the film simultaneously hits cinemas and HBO Max on August 20th.
