“Nobody exists on purpose, nobody belongs anywhere, everybody’s going to die. Come watch TV?”

It’s the line that sums up a lot of what’s behind Rick and Morty, arguably one of the best animated television shows ever made. There are many, many things that make the Adult Swim series so great, from the wild humour to the truly creative ideas flying around, but it’s perhaps the philosophical discussions, the ruminations on life and its purpose, that really make it special.

Adult Swim has unveiled a new featurette for the series, this one with co-creator Dan Harmon sharing some of the viewpoints that have gone into the show’s more existential moments.

“Do I agree with Rick that nothing means anything? No, I do not,” says Harmon. “Because the knowledge that nothing matters – while accurate – gets you nowhere.”

Now, excuse me as I ponder it all and wait for season 3 to kick off…
