Adam Sandler’s first film under the recent four-movie deal made between his Happy Madison production company and Netflix is gathering momentum.
Titled The Ridiculous 6, the upcoming comedy is set to star Sandler, Taylor Lautner, Nick Nolte, Steve Buscemi, Rob Schneider, Dan Aykroyd, Will Forte, Nick Swardson, Terry Crews, Whitney Cumming, Jon Lovitz and Vanilla Ice.
The Wrap broke the news, reporting that The Ridiculous 6 is also expected to star Luke Wilson, Chris Parnell, Danny Trejo and Steve Zahn.
A comedy western, The Ridiculous 6 will apparently put a spin on ensemble westerns such as the 1960 classic The Magnificent Seven.
According to the website:
Sandler will play man who grew up as an orphan among an Indian tribe. Lautner, Schneider, Wilson and Crews are poised to play his half-brothers, while the final half-brother has yet to be cast. Nolte will play Sandler’s long-lost father; Parnell a bank manager; Lovitz a wealthy industrialist and Cummings his flirtatious wife. Forte and Trejo will play the leaders of rival gangs, while Buscemi will play a local jack-of-all-trades.
The Ridiculous 6, penned by Sandler and longtime collaborator Tim Herlihy (Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, The Wedding Singer, The Waterboy), is set to enter production in February.
Frank Coraci, director of Sandler films The Wedding Singer, The Waterboy, Click and Blended, is attached at the helm.
