Taron Egerton sings one of Elton John’s many memorable hits in a scene released from the fantasy biopic Rocketman.
The Kingsman star has been earning very strong reviews for his performance as the British singer, a factor certainly helped by the knowledge that it’s actually him belting out those classic tunes. The clip below has Elton (Egerton) coming up with the melody for “Your Song,” which the film has him subtly singing to his songwriter and longtime friend Bernie Taupin (Jamie Bell), while his mother (Bryce Dallas Howard) and grandma (Gemma Jones) look on.
It’s been an okay start for Rocketman. It hasn’t shot for the moon, but the film did have a decent US opening of $US25 million from 3,500 screens and is now passing $US75 million worldwide a bit over a week from its international rollout launch date. According to Deadline, the Paramount film comes with a production and marketing spend of $US120 million.
Rocketman is currently showing in Australian and US cinemas.
