The trailer has been unleashed for Scream, the fifth entry in the hit meta slasher franchise that was spawned by writer/creator Kevin Williamson and director Wes Craven.
The new chapter brings back Sydney Prescott (Neve Campbell), Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox) and Dewey Riley (David Arquette), who once again find themselves confronting a killer donning the Ghostface mask. The stab-happy murderer appears to be targeting a group of teenagers who are, as we find out in the trailer, related to the original killers.
“I’ve been through this… a lot,” says Campbell’s Sydney, who went through the absolute ringer in the four previous instalments. “You ready?” Sydney asks Cox’s Gale. “For this?” Gale responds. “Never.”
The new Scream is directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, whose previous directorial efforts include 2019 horror film Ready or Not, two segments of 2015 horror anthology flick Southbound, and 2014 demon baby horror film Devil’s Due. The script was written by James Vanderbilt (Zodiac, The Amazing Spider-Man, Independence Day: Resurgence) and Guy Busick (Ready or Not, Castle Rock).
Scream, also starring Melissa Barrera, Kyle Gallner, Mason Gooding, Mikey Madison, Dylan Minnette, Jenna Ortega, Jack Quaid, and Marley Shelton, among others, will be slashing its way into Australian cinemas on January 13th and US cinemas on January 14th.
