‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods’ Director Teases Sequel with First Footage

Warner Bros.

“Coming soon…ish.”

So posted director David F. Sandberg on social media, dropping a quick-but-fun tease for upcoming DC sequel Shazam! Fury of the Gods. The clip offers up a few flashes of Shazam’s new suit, with Zachary Levi amusingly pointing out the lighting – or lack thereof. “Why is it so dark? Probably would have been a good idea to have, like, one light on.”

Sandberg reunites with screenwriter Henry Gayden for the follow-up, which will also be starring Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu as Hespera and Kalypso respectively. Asher Angel returns as Billy Batson, the boy who can transform into the titular superhero, with Jack Dylan Grazer back as Freddy Freeman and Adam Brody as his superhero counterpart, Super Hero Freddy.

We still have around two years until the film hits screens. Shazam! Fury of the Gods will be in cinemas (presumably) on June 2nd, 2023.
