A kinetic new trailer has arrived for the upcoming thriller sequel Sicario: Day of the Soldado.
Benicio Del Toro and Josh ‘I’m on a roll’ Brolin return as Alejandro and agent Matt Graver respectively, who are this time on a mission to escalate the war between Mexican cartels. The mission finds Alejandro kidnapping the daughter (Isabela Moner) of a kingpin, but everything changes when Graver and co. deem her expendable.
The first film was fantastic; a powerhouse combination of Denis Villeneuve’s (Prisoners, Arrival, Blade Runner 2049) direction, Taylor Sheridan’s (Hell or High Water, Wind River) writing, and a trio of strong performances from Emily Blunt, Del Toro and Brolin. Despite Blunt and Villeneuve not being back, Day of the Soldado looks like a kick-ass sequel, with slick, tense-looking action and Del Toro and Brolin doing their thing in tough-guy roles. We’re so in.
Sicario: Day of the Soldado, also starring Jeffrey Donovan Manuel Garcia-Rulfo and Catherine Keener, arrives in Australia on June 28 and opens in the US on June 29.
