Sigourney Weaver Revisits Ripley in Stephen Colbert ‘Alien’ Sketch

Sigourney Weaver has revisited the beloved character of Ripley, who we first saw kicking extra-terrestrial ass in Ridley Scott’s ’79 sci-fi horror pic Alien.

In a sketch crafted for CBS’The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Weaver’s Ripley returns with an alien inside her. She’s in a deadly situation; if only she didn’t have to deal with Randy the Randroid from Weyland-Yutani’s Medical Bay and a frustrating health care system.

While the cringe level does peak on occasion, perhaps amplified by that quiet audience, it’s an overall amusing little skit. More than anything, it serves as a reminder that Weaver has still got it and needs to have more kick-ass lead roles.

The next chapter in the Alien franchise, Alien: Covenant, opens in Australia on May 18 and in the US on May 19.
