Netflix‘s upcoming street-level Marvel team-up has cast a big-name actress as its villain.
Sigourney Weaver will be playing an antagonist in Netflix’s The Defenders, which will see Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Luke Cage (Mike Colter), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), and Iron Fist (Finn Jones) joining forces.
The announcement was made at New York Comic Con, where Sigourney was brought on stage as a surprise guest following appearances by all four Defenders.
“Marvel is honored to have an actress of her caliber and status join what is already our biggest show ever,” Deadline quotes Executive Vice President of Marvel Television Jeph Loeb as saying. “She is by definition a class act.”
There’s no word as to what character Sigourney will be playing or what exact date we can expect to see The Defenders arrive on Netflix.
The Marvel-Netflix team-up has thus far added fantastic television to what is an incredible era for the small box, and the studios show no sign whatsoever of slowing down. Hell yeah.
