‘Silent Night’ Trailer: It’s a Keira Knightley Christmas Movie… About the End of Humanity

If all that Christmas cheer coming up is bound to get your eyes rolling, perhaps this holiday movie is more your cup of egg nog.

Take a look at the trailer for Silent Night, a darkly comedic drama starring Keira Knightley, Matthew Goode, Roman Griffin Davis, Annabelle Wallis, and Lily-Rose Depp, among others. Knightley and Goode play parents holding a big Christmas dinner at their idyllic home in the English countryside. They’ve got their family and some of their closest friends together for food, wine, and quality time. There’s just a little something that could sour the mood: mankind’s imminent destruction.

This grim-looking, nihilistic dark comedy marks the feature debut for writer-director Camille Griffin, mother of Jojo Rabbit star Roman Griffin Davis, who has one of the lead roles here. The wit looks dry and Griffin appears to have a bit to say about family dynamics and humanity; hopefully the ambitiousness pays off.

Silent Night, also starring Ṣọpé Dìrísù, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Lucy Punch, Rufus Jones and Trudie Styler, will be released digitally in Australia by Madman Films on December 3rd. The film will also hit U.S. theaters and U.S. streaming service AMC+ on the same date.
