20th Century Fox has unveiled a new trailer for Snatched, the upcoming comedy starring Amy Schumer and Goldie Hawn.
Directed by Jonathan Levine (All the Boys Love Mandy Lane, 50/50, Warm Bodies), Snatched tells of a mother (Hawn) and daughter (Schumer) who find themselves kidnapped whilst on vacation in Ecuador.
Schumer fans will no doubt be all over this, a safe-looking comedy that also marks Hawn’s first feature film role in 15 years (her last film was 2002’s The Banger Sisters). The two look to have some chemistry, although just how funny it all looks most definitely comes down to personal taste. Even if it’s very run-of-the-mill, this does have the right type of elements for a financial hit, with Schumer’s solid fanbase, successful comedy director Levine at the helm and a script by Katie Dippold (Parks and Recreation, The Heat). We’ll see.
Snatched, also starring Joan Cusack, Ike Barinholtz, Wanda Sykes, Christopher Meloni and Randall Park, arrives in Australia on May 11 and hits the US on May 12.
Official synopsis for Snatched:
After her boyfriend dumps her on the eve of their exotic vacation, impetuous dreamer Emily Middleton (Amy Schumer) persuades her ultra-cautious mother, Linda (Goldie Hawn) to travel with her to paradise. Polar opposites, Emily and Linda realize that working through their differences as mother and daughter – in unpredictable, hilarious fashion – is the only way to escape the wildly outrageous jungle adventure they have fallen into.
