“You end up getting to see how this guy got to be the way he is.”

So says Alden Ehrenreich, the Hail, Caesar! actor who’s taking on quite the role in the next Star Wars chapter to hit cinemas, spinoff prequel film Solo: A Star War Story.

A new featurette has arrived for the highly anticipated film, this one unveiling a surprising amount of new footage, including snippets of Solo at war, more of Solo getting to know Chewie, and more action around the Millennium Falcon. We also get interview snippets with the cast, including Emilia Clarke and Donald Glover, and replacement director Ron Howard (A Beautiful Mind, Apollo 13).

The bumpy road to the film’s fruition will hopefully not be evident in the final product, which, as per the promising marketing thus far, looks like a lot of fun. The Last Jedi left the fanbase in polarising positions; fingers crossed this one leaves most in agreement that it’s an entertaining, rollicking good ride.

Solo: A Star Wars Story, also starring Woody Harrelson, Paul Bettany and Thandie Newton, among others, arrives in Australia on May 24 and opens in the U.S. on May 25.
