First ‘Spencer’ Trailer: Kristen Stewart is Princess Diana

The official teaser trailer has arrived for Spencer, the upcoming drama that finds Kristen Stewart playing Princess Diana.

The film is set over a pivotal weekend in Princess Diana’s life, imagining what may have occurred during the Christmas festivities she attended at the Queen’s Sandringham Estate in 1992. The film finds the relationship between Diana and Prince Charles cold, with rumours of affairs and a divorce circling. An air of peace is required for this weekend, though. As the synopsis reads, “There’s eating and drinking, shooting and hunting. Diana knows the game. But this year, things will be profoundly different.”

First of all, Stewart, contrary to the many naysayers that jumped in with negativity when she was cast as the beloved Princess of Wales, certainly looks to have immersed herself in the part nicely. Only a few glimpses, to be sure, but so far, so good. Expect a gorgeously-shot and, perhaps, not-quite-as-expected approach to Diana, particularly coming from acclaimed Chilean director Pablo Larraín (Jackie, No) and screenwriter Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders, Eastern Promises, Locke). Most definitely looking forward to this one.

Spencer, also starring Jack Farthing as Prince Charles, Timothy Spall, Sean Harris, and Sally Hawkins, will open in US cinemas on November 5th.
