‘Spider-Man 3’ Reportedly Bringing Back Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, Kirsten Dunst & More

The third Tom Holland-starring Spider-Man movie could very well see him meeting Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Men.

That’s the rumour being covered by a number of outlets. Collider has confidently reported that Garfield is set to return, while Maguire is currently in negotiations with Sony/Marvel. Furthermore, Kristen Dunst will reportedly be back as Mary Jane Watson and Emma Stone, pregnancy permitting, will be reprising her role as Gwen Stacy.

On top of all that, another previous Spider-Verse villain is joining Electro’s previously-reported return with Jamie Foxx back in the role. THR is reporting that Alfred Molina will be reprising his role as Dr. Otto Octavius aka Doctor Octopus, the role he took on in Sam Raimi’s 2004 hit Spider-Man 2.

The still-untitled next MCU Spider-Man movie is sure shaping up to be a big one. It’s going to be interesting to see how they tackle the whole multi-verse of it all, as the fantastic Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse managed to do wonderfully. Marvel and DC both have multi-verse narratives on the way, the latter with The Flash, which will have Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck returning as Batmen.

Homecoming and Far from Home director Jon Watts stays at the helm for Spidey 3, which is also set to star Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange – Peter Parker’s new mentor of sorts during this multi-verse adventure – and have stars Zendaya, Marisa Tomei, Jacob Batalon and Tony Revolori returning as well. The film is currently scheduled for US release on December 17th, 2021.
