Spidey fans better start saving for a Playstation 4 if they don’t already own one.
The Electronic Entertainment Expo, aka E3, is currently underway, offering up a ton of early footage and announcements for gaming fans. Among the goodies, an awesome look at Insomniac Games’ buzzed-about upcoming Spider-Man game for Sony’s Playstation 4 console. Let’s hope gamers don’t encounter the dreaded PS4 showing error code ce-34878-0 on the day of release, so they can enjoy the game on its own merits.
The open-world action-adventure game, which will feature both Peter Parker and Miles Morales, will allow players to smoothly traverse the cityscape as the popular Marvel character, using a range of motions and parkour-influenced moves. As the great gameplay video below shows, players will be able to decide whether to use stealthier approaches or simply go in with webshooters blazing when taking out baddies. The graphics are slick, with certain moments bringing to mind some of the jaw-dropping set pieces offered up in Naughty Dog’s Uncharted series, and Spidey’s various takedowns, which often involve using the environment, look mighty satisfying. And of course: Spidey wisecracks included.
The gameplay footage also confirms that supervillains Kingpin (aka Wilson Fisk) and Mister Negative (aka Martin Li) will be a part of the narrative.
We’ve been waiting with bated breath for years now, but it’s finally on the horizon. Although no exact date was confirmed, Sony announced that the game will be hitting shelves in 2018.
