Talent directing talent. The Academy Award nominated Stanley Tucci is set to director Oscar winning actor Geoffrey Rush in an upcoming period drama.
Final Portrait is to tell the story of American art critic James Lord, who decides to his let friend, legendary Swiss painter Alberto Giacometti, paint his portrait. Little does Lord know, sitting for this portrait will mean putting up with Giacometti’s demands, which will ultimately test their relationship.
Deadline broke the news, reporting that Tucci has also written the screenplay. Final Portrait is based on one of Lord’s own works, A Giacometti Portrait.
Final Portrait will mark Tucci’s fifth feature film as director, having previously directed Big Night, The Impostors, Joe Gould’s Secret, and Blind Date.
Tucci stars in the anticipated Arctic Circle-set mystery series Fortitude and will be reprising his role as Caesar Flickerman in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2.
Geoffrey Rush, who was last seen in The Book Thief, will next be seen starring opposite Sam Neill, Anna Torv and Miranda Otto in the Australian drama The Daughter.
