The trailer has arrived for Matt Damon-starring dramatic thriller Stillwater.

Directed and co-written by Tom McCarthy (Spotlight, The Visitor), Stillwater has Damon playing an American oil-rig roughneck from Oklahoma who heads to the French city of Marseille when his daughter (Abigail Breslin) is accused of murder. He’s soon building a new life in France, as he takes on language barriers, cultural differences, and a complicated legal system to set his daughter free.

A potential winner here, with Damon appearing to be in fine form as a father desperate to prove his daughter’s innocence in difficult circumstances. Fingers crossed for this one.

Stillwater, also starring Camille Cottin and Deanna Dunagan, opens in Australian cinemas on July 29th and US cinemas on July 30th.
