Following in the footsteps of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the home entertainment release of Suicide Squad will feature an extended cut.

Fans of the villain/anti-hero team-up will be happy to learn that the film is receiving a DVD, Blu-ray, Digital HD edition with 13 minutes of extra footage.

No details have been released regarding what the footage will offer, but the trailer for the release does provide a new snippet of a certain Harley Quinn.

Back in August, director David Ayer had told Collider that was “definitely over 10 minutes of material” that hit the editing room floor.

“But this cut of a movie is my cut, there’s no sort of parallel universe version of the movie, there released movie is my cut,” Ayer said.

“And that’s one of the toughest things about writing, shooting, and directing a film, is you end up with these orphans and you fucking love them and you think they’d be amazing scenes and do these amazing things but the film is a dictatorship [laughs], not a democracy, and just because something’s cool and charismatic doesn’t mean it gets to survive in the final cut. The flow of the movie is the highest master.”

Whether the final cut worked or not is certainly up for debate, with many questioning the film’s flow and inconsistency – especially regarding the small amount of screen time given to Jared Leto’s The Joker.

Leto himself had expressed his opinion regarding the amount of work he’d put in, saying, “I think there’s probably enough footage in this film for a Joker movie.”

In Australia, the extended edition is available on Digital from November 16 and hits Ultra HD 4K Blu-ray, Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray, DVD and Video on Demand on December 7.

In the US, the extended edition will hit Digital first on November 15. The Blu-ray, DVD, etc will be released on December 13.
