For those who didn’t know, the CW Television Network is developing a Supernatural spin-off series titled Supernatural: Bloodlines, recently changing its name from Supernatural: Tribes. Nathaniel Buzolic (The Vampire Diaries), Sean Faris (Never Back Down), Danielle Savre (Heroes) and Stephen Martines (General Hospital), have already been cast, with Melissa Roxburgh, best known for her role in both Diary of a Wimpy Kid films, recently cast as the female lead of Violet.
According to Deadline, the spin-off series revolves around the various “monster families ” that unknowingly to humans “run” the underbelly of Chicago. Savre will play Margo, the acting head of the leading shapeshifter family. She feels threatened by the return of her brother David (Buzolic). Roxburgh’s Violet is a member of a powerful werewolf pack who hides her true nature because of her forbidden love for family rival David. These families are being tracked by a newly minted Hunter who’s trying to rid Chicago of all things supernatural. Martinez will play Detective Freddie Costa, a Chicago cop who is on the payroll of one of the powerful monster families.
It certainly sounds like this spinoff is ticking off the right boxes to be another hit, since vampires and all things supernatural seem to be all the rage at the moment. The first episode of Supernatural: Bloodlines is to air on April 29.
