Because. That’s why.
Sony Pictures Animation bizarrely chose to team up with WWE Studios for a sequel to 2007 animated film Surf’s Up, and we’ve got the latest trailer for you to check out.
The follow-up finds surfing penguin Cody and his friends meeting their heroes, the surfing dream team The Hang Five, voiced by John Cena, Undertaker, Triple H, Paige and Mr. McMahon. Yep. Directed by Henry Yu, who worked as a storyboard artist on last year’s Adam Sandler-produced Hotel Transylvania 2.
The kiddies might get a kick out of this one, although seeing as it’s a sequel that comes ten years after the original modest hit, there likely won’t be a big amount of brand recognition with them.
Surf’s Up 2: WaveMania will hit the US on DVD and Digital January 17.
The most radical surfing dream team, The Hang Five (voiced by WWE Superstars John Cena, Undertaker, Triple H, Paige and Mr. McMahon) puts Cody and his friends to the test and teaches them the meaning of teamwork as they journey to the most legendary surfing spot on the planet.
