The Sydney premiere of Star Trek Beyond took place last night, bringing out stars Chris Pine, Karl Urban, John Cho and director Justin Lin.

The Entertainment Quarter, located in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney, was beautifully decorated and lit up, making it quite the classy affair, a far cry from the heavy rain outside.

An array of drinks, gigantic posters, and even a DJ greeted attendees inside the Event Cinemas foyer. The film was set up in multiple rooms in order to accommodate the crowds, which of course included a large amount of Trekkies is their favourite Star Trek outfits.

After posing for media and meeting the many fans, Pine, Urban, Cho and Lin made their way into the cinemas, introducing the film to keen audiences and further driving the excitement. This writer even got to high-five the whole team; a big deal in my books.

Check out the images below, and be sure to keep an eye out for our review, which will go live after the embargo lifts at 12.01am AEST, Thursday, July 21.

Star Trek Beyond opens in Australia on July 21 and hits the U.S. on July 22.

“Star Trek Beyond,” the highly anticipated next installment in the globally popular Star Trek franchise, created by Gene Roddenberry and reintroduced by J.J. Abrams in 2009, returns with director Justin Lin (“The Fast and the Furious” franchise) at the helm of this epic voyage of the U.S.S. Enterprise and her intrepid crew. In “Beyond,” the Enterprise crew explores the furthest reaches of uncharted space, where they encounter a mysterious new enemy who puts them and everything the Federation stands for to the test.
