A big one for Netflix here. Like, their biggest thus far. Take a look at the official trailer that’s arrived for The Gray Man, an action-thriller starring Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Billy Bob Thornton, and more.

Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, best known for their Marvel films (Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame), The Gray Man has Gosling playing CIA operative Court Gentry, who finds himself a target and placed in the sights of a psychopathic former CIA cohort, Lloyd Hansen (Evans). Ana de Armas plays Agent Dani Miranda, who has Gentry’s back, and Thornton plays Donald Fitzroy, Gentry’s handler.

With a budget that’s past the $US200 million range, this tops Red Notice as Netflix’s most expensive film to date – and it certainly looks pricey. Apart from the big stars, the film appears to be boasting some massive action sequences in a globe-trotting production that saw filming take place in California, Prague in the Czech Republic, and the Château de Chantilly in France.

The film is an adaptation of Mark Greaney’s novel of the same name. There are 10 books in Greaney’s series, so if this brings Netflix massive viewing numbers and a jump in subscribers, don’t be surprised to see a Gosling-led franchise unfold.

The Gray Man, also starring Jessica Henwick, Regé-Jean Page, Wagner Moura, Dhanush, Alfre Woodard,  Julia Butters, Eme Ikwuakor, and Scott Haze, will be hitting select cinemas on July 14th and landing on Netflix on July 22nd.
