Amazon Prime Will Exclusively Release the ‘The Green Knight’ in Australia & New Zealand

Some good news for those in Australia and New Zealand that have long been waiting for the release of fantasy film The Green Knight.

Well, good news for those in Aus and NZ subscribed to Amazon Prime Video, that is. The streamer has announced that the Dev Patel-starring picture will be released exclusively on the service across both countries on October 28th. Mark the date!

Directed and written by David Lowery (Ain’t Them Bodies Saints, Pete’s Dragon, A Ghost Story, The Old Man & The Gun), this take on the Arthurian legend has Patel playing Sir Gawain, the reckless and headstrong nephew of King Arthur. Gawain embarks on a daring quest, contending with ghosts, giants, thieves, and schemers, in order to confront the tester of men, the eponymous Green Knight.

The film has received solid reviews from the critics and mixed reviews from general audiences; on Rotten Tomatoes, for example, there’s an 88% score from critics and a 50% score from audiences. The discrepancy seems to come down to audience expectations clashing with the artistic style and measured pace Lowery has employed. It’s perhaps best not to enter this one expecting an action adventure in the mainstream sense.

The Green Knight, also starring Alicia Vikander, Joel Edgerton, Sarita Choudhury, Sean Harris, Kate Dickie, and Barry Keoghan, hits Australian and New Zealand Amazon Prime Video on October 28th. Take a look at the trailer below…
