Now this one’s caught our attention!
Take a look at the trailer that much-lauded studio A24 – behind releases such Hereditary, Midsommar and The Lighthouse – has unveiled for upcoming medieval fantasy The Green Knight.
Dev Patel (Slumdog Millionaire, Lion, Hotel Mumbai) plays Sir Gawain, the reckless and headstrong nephew of King Arthur. Determined to prove himself to his family and kingdom, Gawain journeys to face the tester of men, the Green Knight.
The film is directed and written by David Lowery, who has an interesting, diverse resume with films such as The Old Man & the Gun, Ain’t Them Bodies Saints, A Ghost Story and 2016’s Pete’s Dragon. With this one he’s working with a team that includes cinematographer Andrew Droz Palermo (A Ghost Story, You’re Next), production designer Jade Healy (The Killing of a Sacred Deer, I, Tonya) and art director Christine McDonagh (Into the Badlands, Gretel & Hansel)
It’s a very well crafted first trailer, holding an unsettling, borderline horror tone and showcasing some striking visuals. We’re pumped for what could be in store.
Also starring Alicia Vikander, Joel Edgerton, and Sean Harris, among others, The Green Knight will be hitting U.S. cinemas on May 29.
