A remake of the fantastic one-location Danish film of the same name, The Guilty has Gyllenhaal playing a 911 call responder in for one stressful shift. When he receives a call from a woman in grave danger, the situation begins to escalate beyond his control. He soon realises that nothing is as it seems, and the only way out may be to face the truth.
A potentially tense-as-hell nail-biter in store here. The original film was a perfectly crated exercise in suspense, so fingers crossed this version follows suit. It certainly has talent that bodes well, with Gyllenhaal carrying the sure-to-be exhausting primary performance, a screenplay adaptation from True Detective creator Nic Pizzolatto, and mostly-solid Training Day, Shooter, The Equalizer and Southpaw director Antoine Fuqua at the helm.
Line it up: The Guilty, also starring Ethan Hawke, Peter Sarsgaard, Riley Keough, Paul Dano and Byron Bowers, will be streaming on Netflix from October 1st. The film hits limited US cinemas on the same day.
