We had the opportunity to chat with filmmaker Edoardo Vitaletti, whose feature directorial debut The Last Thing Mary Saw is now streaming on Shudder.

Set in New York, 1843, this atmospheric horror-drama tells the story of Mary (Stefanie Scott, Insidious: The Last Key), a young woman who is under investigation following the mysterious death of her family’s matriarch. Her recollection of the events sheds new light on the ageless forces behind the tragedy. The film also stars Isabelle Fuhrman (Orphan) and Rory Culkin (Signs, Castle Rock).

In the 15-minute video interview below, I had the pleasure to chat with Vitalleti about casting and working with Scott and Fuhrman, infusing horror with tragic romance, his experience going from short films to a major motion picture, what he learned on set, working with natural lighting, and what films influence his work. Enjoy!
