‘The Medium’ Trailer: Creepy Shamanism in New Thai Horror from ‘Shutter’ Director

Take a look at the creepy trailer for upcoming Thai horror film The Medium, the latest from the Shutter and Alone filmmaker Banjong Pisanthanakun.

The Medium is described as a rural horror pic that follows a shaman who is given an inheritance in Isan, a poor region of Thailand. Alas, there’s a spirit that seems to have possesion of a family member. So, yeah, freaky sh*t is about to hit the fan.

Check out the Korean trailer that Variety first released below. It doesn’t go for the typical jump scares, instead providing some eerie imagery that really unsettles. Keep an eye out for this one; it could be a sleeper hit.

Pisanthanakun has proven himself one of Thailand’s most successful directors. He delivered a horror hit with 2004’s Shutter and has directed a number of financially successful and critically well-received films in both horror and romance/comedy genres (One Day, Hello Stranger). Looking forward to nervously checking out what he’s got in store here.

The Medium will be hitting Korean cinemas in July, with international dates to follow.
