First The Pyramid Trailer: Found Footage in Egypt

The first The Pyramid trailer has been released, showcasing yet another upcoming “found-footage” horror film. This week saw the release of trailers for As Above, So Below and Exists, but we’d say that this one looks to be (arguably) the most promising of the lot. The Pyramid follows a group of archaeologists that enter the first 3-sided pyramid discovered in Egypt. You’d never guess it, but they’re about to enter a shitstorm. Like the As Above, So Below trailer, this one looks to take advantage of its claustrophobic setting, complete with nifty booby-traps to keep our characters on their toes. While many are calling this a “found footage” flick, it doesn’t completely follow the rules associated with that format, since it’s obvious that there are more cameras filming (than the ones held by our characters). The Pyramid marks the directorial debut of Grégory Levasseur, a long-time co-writer of writer-director Alexandre Aja, co-writing High Tension, The Hills Have Eyes and Mirrors. Aja himself is attached as a producer here.

Starring Denis O’Hare, Ashley Hinshaw and James Buckley.
