Aaron Taylor-Johnson and John Cena are stuck in quite the predicament in The Wall, the upcoming war thriller from director Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity, Edge of Tomorrow).
The first trailer has dropped for the film, which tells of two soldiers pinned down by an Iraqi sniper. Taylor-Johnson’s character finds himself stuck behind a small crumbling wall, unable to reach his injured friend (Cena).
The contained premise here is something like Phonebooth meets moments from Enemy at the Gates, which could bode well for a seriously tense outing. Liman is usually good value, as is Taylor-Johnson, and it’s nice to see Cena in a more dramatic role. Here’s hoping for a strong pic.
The Wall, not to be confused with that upcoming Matt Damon-starring China epic, will be hitting US cinemas on March 10, 2017.
Synopsis for The Wall:
A deadly psychological thriller that follows two soldiers pinned down by an Iraqi sniper, with nothing but a crumbling wall between them. Their fight becomes as much a battle of will and wits as it is of lethally accurate marksmanship. Directed by Doug Liman, “The Wall” stars Aaron Taylor Johnson and WWE star John Cena, and is written by first-time screenwriter Dwain Worrell from his Black List script. “The Wall” is produced by Amazon Studios.
