The third Thor-led picture is set to start filming next month.

Thor: Ragnarok will enter principal photography on July 4, reports Queensland news outlet The Bulletin. Production will be set up at Village Roadshow Studios on the Gold Coast next month and filming is expected to continue until late-October.

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk spoke to Marvel Studios executive David Maisel, who revealed that Marvel had set up offices at Queensland three months ago in order to prepare for the big-budget feature.

Maisel said the studio would be looking at including locals – “Hundreds and hundreds of local folk — as many as we can possible get while we are there” – during the shoot.

Understandably, the Queensland Premier added that the state was keen to partner with Marvel Studios “for many, many more years to come.”

Thor: Ragnarok is being directed by New Zealand filmmaker Taika Waititi, known for Boy, What We Do in the Shadows, and the currently-screening Hunt for the Wilderpeople.

The picture, with a cast that includes Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Tom Hiddleston, Jeff Goldblum, Cate Blanchett, Karl Urban, and Tessa Thompson, is scheduled for U.S. release on November 3, 2017.
