Take a look at the first full trailer for HBO’s True Detective, a new series starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson. Directed by Cary Fukunaga (Sin Nombre, Jane Eyre), the series is described as an “elevated serial narrative”. The trailer is certainly a mesmerizing piece of marketing that shows just how powerful this series will be. McConaughey and Harrelson are two of the finest actors around and it looks like they’ve put some hard work into this. hbo is one of the leaders of quality television and it doesn’t look like they’re in any danger of losing that reputation.

According to Collider:

Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey star as two detectives whose lives collide and entwine during a seventeen-year hunt for a serial killer in Louisiana. The investigation of a bizarre murder in 1995 is framed and interlaced with testimony from the detectives in 2012, when the case has been reopened. The show is envisioned as an anthology, and these first eight episodes will tell a complete story involving McConaughey and Harrelson’s characters.
