The Raid: Redemption kicked ass, serious ass. An action-packed extravaganza of martial-arts and balls-to-the-wall violence, the Indonesian action film got adrenaline glands pumping all around the world. Thankfully, writer-director Gareth Evans is back with action-star Iko Uwais in what looks like an equally tough sequel, The Raid 2: Berandal. As opposed to the teaser trailer released a few months ago, this full international trailer gives a much clearer look at the plot. It may not be much of one, but it certainly has more of a storyline than the first film had. Of course, we’re given more of a look at the action, which has us seriously excited. How ridiculously awesome does that mud-covered prison fight look? While this isn’t officially classified as a “red band” trailer, there are some pretty violent snippets to be aware of.
Enjoy.
Synopsis:
Written and directed by Gareth Evans, THE RAID 2 picks up right where the first film left off and follows Rama (Iko Uwais) as he goes undercover and infiltrates the ranks of a ruthless Jakarta crime syndicate in order to protect his family and uncover the corruption in his own police force.
And just because we loved it so much, here’s the trailer for the first film, The Raid: Redemption:
The Raid: Berandal will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January and will hit U.S. cinemas on March 28, 2014.
