Check out the big new trailer that Sony has unveiled for Uncharted, the long-awaited big-screen adaptation of the hit video game franchise.
Tom Holland plays beloved game character Nathan Drake, a quip-spouting thief and treasure hunter who we meet as a young man here. Mark Wahlberg plays Victor “Sully” Sullivan, Nathan’s eventual buddy and father figure. This origin film of sorts finds the two teaming up for a heist job that turns into a globe-trotting race to find a treasure before ruthless treasure Moncada (played by Antonio Banderas), who believes is its rightful heir, gets his hands on it. Their journey to uncover $5 billion in treasure could also lead them to Nate’s long-lost brother… but, you know, they’ll have to learn to work together first.
The Uncharted movie has had a very bumpy journey to the screen, but we’re close than ever now. Fingers crossed that Venom and Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer and screenwriters Rafe Judkins (The Wheel of Time), Art Marcum and Matt Holloway (Iron Man, Transformers: The Last Knight) deliver the goods. Count me among the many fans of the video game series… please be good, please be good, please be good.
The new trailer offers up a good amount we saw in the first one, including that airplane sequence, but adds in a few more tidbits, such as a gag with Wahlberg sporting the Sully mustache and a look at another big sequence involving flying pirate ships.
Also starring Sophia Ali and Tati Gabrielle, Uncharted is scheduled to hit Australian cinemas on February 17th and U.S. cinemas on February 18th, 2022.
