Watch: Deadpool Looks Back at the Journey So Far

20th Century Fox

“Well, once the movie got greenlit, I went on a massive coke bender. So, 2016 – that’s a little hazy for me. They tell me the movie did well, though.”

The creative team behind the Deadpool marketing aren’t about to show any sign of slowing down, especially with the sequel coming out the gate with record numbers.

A new video has been released with our Merc with a Mouth looking back at the 10-year journey it has taken for Deadpool 2 to hit screens, from the idea that was spawned in 2008, to the bumps (massive potholes?) in the road that were X-Men: Origins – Wolverine and Green Lantern, to the test-footage leak that helped kick everything into motion. “We have no idea how that happened,” Reynolds’ suspicious Deadpool says about that test footage that hit the net and spread like wildfire, which in turn pushed Fox to consider making the film. “But I promise you, I’m looking into it.”

And Deadpool continues to take stabs at the X-Men, in particular the “low-level X-Men” included in the sequel. “None of the big ones, though. We gotta save something for phase two.”

Deadpool 2 is now showing in cinemas around Australia and the US. You can check out our review right HERE.

Here’s the official faux synopsis for the film:

After surviving a near fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry’s hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor – finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best Lover.
