‘Welcome to Earth’ Trailer: Will Smith Explores Incredible Locations in Disney+’s Nat Geo Series

Disney Plus / National Geographic

Will Smith travels to some stunning locations in the upcoming Disney+ docuseries, Welcome to Earth. The title is, of course, also a reference to Smith’s classic line from Independence Day.

Disney+ has released the trailer for the National Geographic six-parter, which finds Smith joining some of the world’s leading adventurers on expeditions to a few of the incredible places this planet has to offer.

“I’ve never climbed a mountain,” Smith, also an executive producer of the series, says in the trailer. “Never swum in a lake. I was in a cave once. I’m beginning to think that I might be missing something.”

Well, he’s being thrown in the deep end here – quite literally – as hits the bottom of the sea in a small submarine, visits a lava-spewing volcano, walks on shifting deserts, and more.

Filmmaker Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan, Requiem for a Dream, The Wrestler) is also among Welcome to Earth‘s large executive producing team. The series is produced by Nutopia, Aronofsky’s Protozoa Pictures, and Smith’s Westbrooke Studios.

Looks like a picturesque and, hopefully, entertaining and equally informative series for the family to enjoy. And it should be made all the more accessible having that Smith charm along for the ride. Welcome to Earth will be hitting Disney+ this December.
