What We Do in the Shadows snuck up to become one of 2015’s funniest and most original comedies, and despite being locked in at the helm of a little upcoming Marvel film known as Thor: Ragnarok, writer-director Taika Waititi is moving ahead in developing the sequel.
During an interview with Crave, Waititi confirmed that he and Jermaine Clement were indeed “trying to write a werewolves spin-off” and that the project would “most likely be the next thing” after Thor: Ragnarok wraps up.
Focusing on the werewolves we got a taste of in What We Do in the Shadows, the sequel was originally rumoured to be titled What We Do in the Moonlight. In actual fact, the title is much more straightforward. According to Waititi: “It’s going to be called We’re Wolves, like ‘We are wolves.’ We’re Wolves.”
No plot details are known as yet, but it’s possible the sequel will be following the exploits of pack leader Anton, hilariously played by Rhys Darby.
Either way, we most likely have a while to wait before We’re Wolves hits screens. Waititi has just hit Sundance with his latest film, coming-of-age comedy Hunt for the Wilderpeople, and Thor: Ragnarok, currently in its pre-production phase, is lined up for U.S. release on November 3, 2017.
Here’s a look at a great scene from What We Do in the Shadows featuring Anton and his pack.
