‘What We Do in the Shadows’ Series Trailer Unveils a Hilarious-Looking Vampire Comedy Show

FX Networks

Take a look at the trailer for What We Do in the Shadows, the upcoming series based on the hilarious mockumentary feature of the same name from Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement.

The 10-episode first season (assuming it goes for more) will introduce us to a group of vampires who have been living together for over 100 years in Staten Island. Among them, there’s Ottoman Empire warrior “Nandor The Relentless” (Kayvan Novak), British vampire “Laszlo” (Matt Berry), and seductress “Nadja” (Natasia Demetriou), who’s described as the vampiric Bonnie to Laszlo’s Clyde. There’s also Nandor’s mortal subserviant Guillermo (my name!), played by Harvey Guillen, who finds “people that are easy to kill”.

After an unexpected visit from their dark lord and leader, Baron Afanas, the vampires are reminded of what they were initially tasked with upon their arrival in Staten Island over a hundred years ago – total and complete domination of the New World. But what exactly is the best way to go about achieving said domination? The vérité camera crew follows along as the vampires set out to answer this query.

If this is even half as enjoyable as the film was, we could be in for a treat. The movie’s offbeat vibe and sense of humour are certainly present here, and the cast looks to be spot on. We can’t wait.

Clement, Waititi and Paul Simms are on board as executive producers with Scott Rudin, Garrett Basch and Eli Bush. The series premieres on FX on March 27.
