‘Where’d You Go, Bernadette’ Trailer: Cate Blanchett Suddenly Leaves in Richard Linklater’s Latest

Entertainment One

Cate Blanchett plays a woman who has the perfect life… and one day just up and disappears.

Check out the first trailer to arrive for Where’d You Go Bernadette, a Richard Linklater-directed (Before Sunrise trilogy, Boyhood, School of Rock) film that doesn’t appear to be as dour as that mini synopsis would have you believe. Based on the bestselling novel by Maria Semple, the film finds the family of Seattle wife and mother Bernadette Fox heading on an exciting adventure to uncover where she’s disappeared to.

The trailer doesn’t give too much to go on, tip-toeing around being a quirky comedy and a dramedy, but we’re enticed at the prospect of anything Linklater. Add two-time Oscar winner Blanchett in the lead and a supporting cast that includes Kristen Wiig, Billy Crudup and Laurence Fishburne, and you can certainly count us on board.

Where’d You Go Bernadette, also starring Judy Greer and Troian Bellisario, will be opening in the US on March 22nd. Entertainment One, releasing the film in Australia in 2019, is yet to announce a date.

WHERE’D YOU GO, BERNADETTE is based on the runaway bestseller by Maria Semple (Mad About You, Arrested Development) about Bernadette Fox, a Seattle woman who had it all – a loving husband and a brilliant daughter. When she unexpectedly disappears, her family sets off on an exciting adventure to solve the mystery of where she might have gone.
